Remote Spiti in the Roof of the World

Off-Beat Spiti is a ten day odyssey into one of India's most remote and spellbinding regions, a trans-Himalayan desert where Tibetan Buddhism holds ancient sway and the landscape shifts from lush Kinnaur valleys to stark barren plateaus. The journey begins in the apple orchards of Narkanda, crosses the dramatic Kinnaur range via the iconic Kinnaur Kailash Peak, and ventures deep into Spiti Valley where monasteries perched on cliffsides guard centuries of Buddhist art and wisdom.

Along this alpine circuit, you will visit Tabo Monastery, the Ajanta of the Himalayas with its 10th century frescoes, explore the cliffside Dhankar complex, and stand before Key Monastery crowning a hilltop at 4166 metres. You will traverse the Kunzum Pass to reach the ethereal Chandratal Lake, where turquoise waters reflect snow peaks, and pass through villages like Hikkim, home to the world's highest post office.

The package includes handpicked mountain hotels, daily breakfast and dinner, private transfers, and an itinerary designed to balance cultural immersion with high altitude adventure. This is for travellers who seek the road less travelled, where every bend reveals a prayer-painted monastery or a pristine lake beneath the stars.

Best Time to Visit Spiti

The best time to visit Spiti Valley is from June to September when the high passes are clear and the weather cooperative. These months offer pleasant daytime temperatures between 15 to 25 degrees, clear skies for trekking and sightseeing, and access to all roads and monasteries. May is also excellent as the valleys bloom and snow recedes from lower altitudes. October brings golden autumn light but nights grow cold. Winter from November onwards closes many passes and roads due to heavy snow, making the region inaccessible.
