From 20 April 2026, the Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai processes all visa applications exclusively through VFS Global centres. Direct applications to the consulate are no longer accepted. Our team books your appointment at the VFS Global centre and accompanies your documentation.
VFS Global opens Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:30, and Saturday 08:30 to 12:30 for passport return. Biometrics are captured during your appointment. Processing takes 5 to 10 working days from submission.
The Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai has jurisdiction and makes all visa decisions. VFS Global facilitates application submission, document verification, biometric capture, and passport return.
