God's Own Country
Tea hills in Munnar, spice gardens in Thekkady, houseboats on the backwaters and a quiet stretch of the Arabian Sea coast. Four Kerala holidays, from a backwater break to a full Ayurveda programme.
About Kerala
Kerala packs very different landscapes into short drives: the cool, tea covered hills of Munnar in the Western Ghats, the spice scented forests of Thekkady at the edge of the Periyar Tiger Reserve, the calm lakes and canals of Kumarakom and Alleppey, and the palm fringed beaches of the Arabian Sea.
Enchanting Kerala is the classic circuit through Munnar, Thekkady and Kumarakom, finishing in the old spice port of Kochi. Kerala Backwaters stays close to the water, with a night on a houseboat through the Alleppey canals and a beach stay at Mararikulam. For something slower, Kalari Rasayana - CGH Earth Ayurveda is a lakeside Ayurveda programme in Kollam with daily doctor consultations, and The Leela Kovalam, A Raviz Hotel is a romantic beach stay in a Club Room above the sea.

When to go
October to March is the best time for most of Kerala, with comfortable weather in the hills and calm backwaters, and November to February brings the clearest skies and calmest water for a houseboat cruise. Enchanting Kerala works well from September onwards.
The monsoon, from June to August, turns the state a vivid green and is the traditional season for Ayurveda, though rain can limit outdoor plans. April and May are warm and humid in the lowlands but still cool in Munnar.
